Don't Just Take It From Me (Take it from Reagan)

Who: Fellow women with a mission to empower. Next up, Reagan.

I’ve linked their Instagrams/blogs with their permission.

What: Style inspiration

When: Every damn day

I decided to offer a few other opinions on style from a few gals I admire and appreciate. This will be an on-going blog series including different women in my life that I find both trendy and empowering. Next up, Reagan: a beautiful soul that spreads joy like it’s her day job. Oh and her day job? She’s an incredibly talented designer.

Reagan

I met Reagan in middle school when we cheered together (yes, lol). Even after my cheerleading days were over, we remained friends. She was a year ahead of me in school, but never let that disrupt her friendliness. I still can remember saying hi in the hallways of high school, laughing at track practice and random sleepovers we attended in middle school.

Flash-forward to 2017 when we both moved out of Botetourt and into a new county in Nova within two months of each other. Look at God. Since reconnecting in northern Virginia, Reagan has been such a wonderful friend to spend time with and depend on (for style and otherwise). She recently ventured into the interior design industry and it is truly her calling. Her ability to visualize and create beautiful spaces is an unmatched natural talent.

If you think about it, getting dressed every day can just something we do mindlessly (like brushing our teeth or packing our kid’s lunch) OR it can be this exhilarating creative process, much like painting on a canvas, that reflects however you’re feeling that day.

How did you learn to style your looks/ put together different pieces for a unique outfit?

Reagan: Ever since I can remember, I have never been the type to ask others what they’re wearing to an event so that I could mirror their look in hopes to blend in. Not to say that I would ever show up to an occasion in something as daring as a meat dress (love you, Gaga), but I love wearing pieces that stand out and reflect my personality (ex: my metallic floral cowboy boots that I wear every chance I get).

Name some of your favorite places to shop.

R: I’m actually very diverse with my wardrobe in terms of where I buy pieces. I always have and always will love bargain hunting. I feel like I find the coolest stuff when I spontaneously pop into TJ Maxx. As long as you know your style and the look you are going for, you can find pieces that work anywhere. It’s all about how you style things. My go-to places to shop are definitely Nordstrom Rack, 310 Rosemont and No14 Boutique.

What is your favorite thing about style/ fashion?

R: I feel strongly that every choice we make is a representation of who we are- this includes individual style. Have an interview for your dream job? Dress the part- whatever that means for you. Maybe that means a tailored pantsuit that you spent way too much money on because you are desperate for a change of pace. Maybe it means wearing some colorful scrubs to reflect your warm personality and ability to help patients see color in a time of darkness. Want to support your football-playing boyfriend on a Saturday afternoon? Throw on his jersey and wear it with pride- maybe even dress it up with some fun accessories. About to bring a new baby into the world? Pack some things in your hospital bag that make you feel beautiful and remind you of who you are in this scary, exciting time (whether that be your favorite color robe or a sentimental piece of jewelry). Figure out the person you want to be in this particular season of life and stay true to that.

What/Who is your inspiration for your style or looks?

R: I have a MAJOR girl crush on Danielle Bernstein (#girlboss behind WeWoreWhat) and have the utmost respect for her hustle and style. She gives off the most insane high-fashion, edgy, western, cool-girl vibe. I mean, I did grow up on a farm so I obviously adore anyone who has the balls to wear (and pull off)  a tailored fringe blazer with cowboy boots and diamonds. No one is fearless but, when it comes to fashion, she comes pretty damn close.

How do you think style/ fashion impacts our daily life?

R: If you think about it, getting dressed every day can just something we do mindlessly (like brushing our teeth or packing our kid’s lunch) OR it can be this exhilarating creative process, much like painting on a canvas, that reflects however you’re feeling that day.

I’ve always appreciated Reagan’s style for what it is: unique, polished and unapologetic. She effortlessly creates a juxtapositional look by combining very different pieces. It suits her personality: someone who is equal parts strong and sweet. You can find her on Instagram @reagantalbot
