If you ask me how I would describe myself, influencer wouldn’t make the top 10 list of things I’d think of. But according to rewardStyle and LIKEtoKNOW.it, I am. So you can bet I’ll be referring to myself as an influencer from now until they revoke my privileges. KIDDING, kinda.
Are you wondering what in tarnation rewardStyle and LIKEtoKNOW.it (LTK) are? Okay, I’m here to let you know.
How it works
I’ve been using the LTK for years now. It’s an incredible idea, created by an inspiring woman with effortless and convenient technology. The LTK app let’s you find items to shop for straight from your screenshots. It’s amazing this technology exists. I’m v grateful for it, too. Here’s a quick run-down on how it works:
Download the LIKEtoKNOW.it app from your app store
Create an account
Follow influencers and brands
Screenshot any LTK photo (as ascribed in captions or by the little icon in the bottom)
Open your app and watch your screenshots appear!
Click on a photo to see the details of the items pictured
Shop directly from the app
Don’t want to buy it immediately? No worries. Save items that catch your eye to your Wish List, then organize them into Collection folders that you can easily browse later.
Why use it?
In addition to being able to find all the details on outfits, decor, products, etc. that might interest you, there are a few other reasons why you should consider using the LTK app.
The app is in chronological order. You know, that long-lost art of viewing content in a logical manner? That. So any influencers you follow, you’ll be able to see in your feed in that order. So if you miss one of those posts on Instagram and didn’t get your screenshot, you can still catch them on the LTK app.
The people giving you the details are rewarded. Most people can see the value in supporting real people behind brands, right? That’s why we like shopping small and knowing the faces behind the logo. In this case, the people (influencers) who are touting items get rewarded for doing so. I’m not quitting my day job any time soon, but it’s nice to get a small (fractional) reward for being the messenger. Keep this in mind when you do plan on buying an item from an influencer’s post. If you don’t shop through the app or link, we don’t get compensated.
You can find inspiration. Many times, I use the LTK app to curate my own outfit inspo. Even if you’re not an avid shopper or don’t plan to shop from the posts you can use it as a way to find inspiration from your existing wardrobe. Using the wish list feature you can save items that you might want to buy later, or that you already own to create your own digital closet to work from.
