#bartacosecret meets #bartacoMargaritaMarch

Who: bartaco

What: the secret taco and specialty margaritas

When: this month

I got the exclusive on the #bartacosecret taco and #margaritaMarch. Hint: if you like avocados and trying new things, you’ll want to tune in for this.

I kicked-off March with a trip to bartaco (conveniently located a block away from our apartment) to try the new #bartaco secret and the margarita of the week. bartaco is not your typical taco joint. Complete with casual, nautical interior design and a neighborhood feel, this place is the perfect spot to grab drinks with friends after work or to plan your weekend around. I’ve been numerous times, with various comrades, on different days of the week and all seasons, and it has never disappointed me.

So, let’s get to the insider stuff. The #bartacosecret is a secret 🌮taco that isn’t on the menu. You can find out the current secret taco by following @bartacolife on Instagram. They dish out all the secret details. The current secret taco is crispy 🥑avocado. Crispy, but how? It’s fried. I was a little skeptical about how fried avocado would taste, especially as the front-runner of this particular taco, but it was awesome. Perfectly described, the crispy outside and soft inside was a unique texture and offered a balanced flavor for this taco. Highly recommend.

As if a secret taco wasn’t enough, March in bartaco means specialty margaritas that are only offered for a limited time. It was just my luck that the manager and I immediately became best friends, bonding over the love of craft beer and you’ll never have guessed it… pickles. Anyway, in making a new friend in the manager, I was able to try not only that week’s margarita, but also the next!

Now don’t be fooled, we indulged in much more than a couple tacos and a drink or two. We couldn’t leave without having some of our favorite things and trying a couple new things (to add to our list of favorites). The great thing about the tacos here are the size. You can try a few different ones without getting too full! Here’s what we had:

tuna tatako lettuce taco

  • Tuna tatako taco (my personal favorite)

  • Portobello tacos (a strong second)

  • Corn fritters (tried for the first time and will never visit without them again)

  • Crispy rock shrimp tacos

  • Plantains (Sam’s favorite)

  • Carne asada tacos

  • Grilled corn *off the cob if you ask nicely

  • Ahi tuna bowl

  • & A coconut ice cream cone to finish the night (I’ve been wanting to try this and it is my new favorite dessert…ever. And it’s beautiful)

So if you’re looking for a place to meet your friends or relax with co-workers after hours, this place is the perfect spot. I’m so excited for warmer weather to be able to enjoy the outside seating. A margarita on the bartaco porch is the closest I can get to being at the beach, without having to go farther than a few hundred feet.
